I'm not sure exactly why but this blog is loading incredibly slow for me. Is anyone else having this problem or is it a issue on my end? I'll check back later on and see if the problem still exists.

I think what you composed made a ton of sense. However, what about this? suppose you added a little content? I am not saying your content is not good, however suppose you added a headline to maybe grab folk's attention? I mean BLOG_TITLE is kinda plain. You ought to look at Yahoo's home page and see how they create post headlines to get people to open the links. You might try adding a video or a related picture or two to grab people excited about what you've got to say. Just my opinion, it could bring your blog a little livelier.
